What is covered?
Film that is bubbling, peeling, discoloring or distorting is covered by warranty. Physical damage of any kind is NOT covered.
Commitment to Quality and Fairness to the customer and us
At BZ Shade and Sound, we stand firmly behind the quality of our window tinting and the craftsmanship that goes into every installation. It’s industry standard, and our commitment, to offer a limited lifetime warranty on your tint. But we also want to set some logical expectations, because just like any other product, there’s a bit of common sense involved.
Why a Limited Lifetime Warranty?
We know it might sound surprising: you’re applying a film that might cost a couple hundred bucks, and we’re promising a lifetime warranty on that. That’s the standard in our industry, and we honor it. We want you to feel confident that your tint will last and that we’ll support you if something goes wrong.
Fair and Logical Limitations
That said, a limited lifetime warranty doesn’t mean forever under any and all conditions. Think of it like buying a car: you wouldn’t expect a dealership to replace your car for free after a decade just because it had an issue. In the same way, if you had your entire vehicle tinted for $200 nine years ago, it’s not entirely reasonable to assume you can just get a full vehicle free redo now. There is a reasonable product life expectancy just like any other product you purchase.
Proof of Purchase and Warranty Claims
To ensure a smooth warranty process, we do require a proof of purchase. We know it might feel like an extra step, but with over 2,000 tint jobs a year, it’s the fairest way to keep track of warranty eligibility.
We ask that you keep your receipt or the warranty card we provide at the time of service. This isn’t a revolutionary concept; it’s a standard practice for warranties across many industries. We appreciate you're understanding that holding onto your proof of purchase helps us help you. Without that proof, we can’t verify the original service to us or the tint manufacturer. We want to deliver great service, but we also need to set this expectation so that the process is smooth and transparent for everyone. Throughout the many years we have been in business,
we’ve occasionally had folks come in for warranty work that wasn’t even our original job, so this helps keep everything honest and straightforward. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Your Choice, Your Final Decision
At BZ Shade and Sound, we’re all about helping you get exactly the look you want for your vehicle. We provide a range of samples, and we guide you through choosing the right tint shade so you can make an informed decision. We want to be as clear and fair as possible: once tint is applied, if you change your mind afterward, there will be an additional cost to redo it. It’s just not feasible for us to redo a completed job for free simply because the shade turned out darker or lighter than you expected. We absolutely want to give you the best customer service experience, and we’re here to help you make the right choice the first time around. But we also need to set the expectation that once a decision is made, changing it afterward is a new service. That way, we can keep things fair for everyone and continue to deliver the quality you expect.
Tint on Dot Matrix and Raised Areas
It’s important to note that if your vehicle’s glass has a dot matrix pattern or raised areas, the tint may appear a bit different in those sections. These dotted or textured areas can cause the film to settle in a way that looks slightly more silvery or uneven compared to the rest of the glass. This is a normal and a purely cosmetic effect due to the raised surface not allowing the tint to adhere as uniformly as it does on smooth glass. We want you to know that this is simply the nature of how tint interacts with these surfaces, and it’s not considered a defect. Some vehicles may show more noticeable variation, while others may look more consistent. Either way, this natural difference doesn’t qualify for a redo or refund, as it’s simply how the film adheres to the glass. We appreciate you're understanding that this is a normal characteristic of tint on dot matrix areas.
What to Expect After Your Tint is Installed
After your vehicle has been tinted, it’s important to understand that the film is applied using a water-based slip solution. This means that depending on the weather and temperature, the curing time can vary. In colder weather, it might take up to a couple of weeks for the film to fully cure and for any residual moisture or haziness to disappear. In warmer weather, this process is usually much quicker. During this curing period, you might notice a hazy or slightly cloudy appearance, or even a “cheetah” pattern as different areas dry at different rates. This is completely normal. You might also see small pockets of moisture trapped under the film. It’s important not to push on these or try to smooth them out, as that can damage the tint and is not covered by warranty. Just let them evaporate naturally.
Additionally, for a period of time after installation—anywhere from about 24 hours to a couple of weeks depending on the season—you’ll need to avoid rolling down your windows. This ensures the tint sets properly. Also, hold off on cleaning the inside of your windows until the film is fully cured. Once you do start cleaning them again, be sure to use an ammonia-free cleaner and a soft cloth to avoid scratches.
By setting these expectations, we hope to ensure you’re fully informed and comfortable with the process as your tint cures to the desired finish.
Understanding Perfect vs. Realistic Results
We strive for excellence in every tint job we do, but it’s important to remember that no product is absolutely perfect. Even on a brand-new $70,000 vehicle, if you look closely enough, you’ll find tiny imperfections in the paint. The same logic applies to window tint. Applying a large piece of film flawlessly on a vehicle is a bit like putting a screen protector on a tablet—just magnified many times over.
We aim for a beautifully clean finish, and we hold ourselves to high standards. But if you examine any tint job with a magnifying glass, you might find a tiny speck or a minute imperfection simply because the process is done in the real world, not a dust-free vacuum. In other words, our goal is to deliver an outstanding result that looks fantastic to the eye and meets our quality standards but just know that a microscopic level of perfection isn’t realistic for any product. We just want to set that expectation, so you know what to expect.
Vehicle Condition and Tint Quality Expectations
We want to provide you with the best possible tint job, and a big part of that is the condition of the vehicle when it arrives. If your vehicle is brought in with a lot of dirt, pet hair, or other debris—whether it’s muddy or just generally unclean inside—it can affect the final result. We do thoroughly clean and prep the glass, but when there are a lot of air contaminants or the environment is full of dust and debris, a perfect outcome is harder to achieve. In other words, the quality of the “canvas” we start with does influence the final “painting.” If your car is covered in mud or pet hair is flying around, a little bit of that might end up in the final tint. While we do our best to minimize it, we want to set the expectation that a cleaner vehicle will help us deliver the best possible result. By making sure your vehicle is reasonably clean before you bring it in, you help us give you the highest quality tint job possible.
Pre-Existing Vehicle Conditions and Post-Tint Inspection
We understand that after a fresh tint job, you might look at your vehicle more closely than ever before—sometimes even more closely than when you first bought it. It’s a natural reaction. However, it’s important to recognize that any pre-existing conditions, such as light scratches on the glass/body, scuffs on door panels, or other normal wear and tear is not due to tint application. Glass imperfections will become more visible once the dark backdrop of tint is applied. The tint can accentuate these existing imperfections, but it doesn’t cause them. We appreciate you're understanding that our job is to apply a great tint, but we can’t be held responsible for previously existing issues and especially those glass imperfections that become more visible afterward.
Ceramic Film Performance
Ceramic film helps keep your car cooler by absorbing heat at a higher rate than traditional window film, but it needs airflow to release that heat and continue working effectively. If your car is parked in the sun all day, it will still get hot inside, this is science. To be exact it is the core scientific principle of thermodynamic equilibrium. Once you start driving and air flows over the glass, the film can release that stored heat and keep things cooler. It’s a combination of the film and airflow that does the trick. The real beauty of ceramic film is unlocked while the vehicle is in use, not parked stationary.
